THE PRODUCT
Sluggit Prima 30’s unique formulation, specifically the 3% Metaldehyde content as an active ingredient and the wet extrusion process, results in a high-performance, superior product for effective snail and slug control.
Superior bait for greater protection
THE PROCESS
Wet Extrusion Process for Superior Performing Baits
The wet extrusion process produces a durable and robust bait with a uniform size that delivers up to 100,000 baits per kilogram. This results in good ballistic properties during application, more baiting points and increased distribution accuracy. The robust properties translate into a largely dust-free, durable product that lasts longer.
A unique formulated microstructure for better control
The use of high-quality ingredients and the unique micronisation process produces a bait that is highly palatable and maintains excellent bait structure integrity in wet conditions. The bait absorbs water quickly, softens, and rapidly expands to allow consumption. This gelatinisation process occurs within 15 minutes of becoming moist. During this process, the bait structure is maintained to ensure minimal leaching of the active ingredients into the soil and promotes weather-resistant properties.
THE APPLICATION
Application Rates
The wet extrusion process produces a durable and robust bait with a uniform size that delivers up to 100,000 baits per kilogram. This results in good ballistic properties during application, more baiting points and increased distribution accuracy. The robust properties translate into a largely dust-free, durable product that lasts longer.
Withholding Periods
When it comes to horticultural crops and vineyards it is best not to apply baits later than 7 days before harvest.
For agricultural crops, we advise applying bait no later than 8 weeks before harvest. Note, that it is not advisable to cut pastures, pulses, oil seeds and winter cereals for stick food sooner than 5 weeks after application of bait.
TIPS FROM THE TRADE
A recent update paper “Snail Management – learnings from recent studies” SARDI 11/2/2020 articulated several key messages;
Good baiting efficacy requires pellet density of at least
30 - 60 baits per m².
To minimise bait degradation, reduce exposure to high temperatures and rainfall.
Baiting earlier in the season gives better control results versus baiting in Spring.
Integrated strategies for snail management are needed for high order control.
